At the Vulkanerlebnis Parkstein, visitors explore the fascinating world of Bavaria’s southernmost volcano across three floors. 

From the formation of the basalt cone and the history of the local area to global volcanism – interactive exhibits, engaging films, and hands-on stations make geological history tangible.

Visitors can explore a model of the Earth’s layers by using a mechanically decoupled, wear-free rotary controller. They can navigate through various geological strata – from the Earth’s surface to deep inside the volcano.

Each position on the dial reveals a new visual layer, providing insights into the composition, structure, and origin of that section.
