Dream Screen addresses special states of consciousness that can only be experienced subjectively. This includes, among other things, the lucid dream, in which the dreaming person can consciously intervene in the dream world, or the phenomenon of out-of-body experiences, in which a person perceives themselves outside of their own body.
In addition, states similar to dreams such as hypnagogia, sleep paralysis, mystical experiences and near-death experiences should be examined more closely.
These phenomena unite the apparently physical perception of a purely spiritual experience. The project examines these extraordinary states of consciousness in a more rational and emotional level, oscillating between documentary form and the audience’s self-awareness.
In doing so, Dream Screen allows for a synergetic interaction two reception formats are created: an artistic cinema documentary and an interactive VR application in which the phenomena examined in the film can be experienced through a 360° environment.
